Bangkok - Sunday 2 February 2014

Greetings from a very hot and sunny Bangkok.  I have had the most amazing Sunday I think I have ever had.  Hold on tight, it's been a ride lol!

I was awake at 6:30am, I don't knows what timeline I am only.  Grabbed a shower, it is so basic I can't tell you but hey it does the job.  The owners of the guest house were up and about.  I slept really well. The memory foam mattress has no foam or memory lol but it was firm, very firm lol but ok.  So showered, dressed and out door to breakfast.  I had to negotiate the 'I do not eat meat thing' but had the most delicious runny eggs on toast.  Why is it sometimes the most simple things are the most enjoyable.  Remember that won't you, take nothing for granted!  I then assess, I guess it is the son of the guest house where I could get a taxi to take me to Wat Alum.  He said out of guest house turn left on to the main road and get a taxi.  Come out of guest house turn right into someone's garden, as you do.  Obviously right means left lol.  I was rescued by a woman who pointed me in the right direction.  Saying thank you I Thai really goes a long way.

Taxi cost £1 and I arrived at the ferry port.  I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Wat Arun across the river; to me it was breathtakingly beautiful.  Ferrt cost 3 bhats each way, that's 6p each way - remember that for later on too lol.  A guy I was chatting too moths ago, called Chris, told me to get to that temple early to climb it because of the steep steps.  Hopefully, I will be able to upload some photos to this blog when I get back to the guest house.  I am in my little Costa across the road having a iced cafe Americano - delicious.  Anyway, Chris said to me, and too be honest I stopped chatting to him as he knew me, he got me and that scared me.  He said Karen you will just get it!  He's so right, I get it totally. Wat Arun was beautiful.  I climbed every step, not looking at ass as he did, but thinking of him and thanking him for telling me all about it.  I got to the top and he was right the views were amazing, totally.  I gingerly (I'm so over the ginger period lol) come down the steps and then sat in the sunshine meditating whilst listening to the monks chant!  Jackie, his cool is that, it was amazing, so peaceful.  I then went to make an offering to Buddha.  I didn't have a clue lol.  But an elderly Thai woman took me under to her wing lol.  Between her and a I guess, trans sexual woman who got roped in, I made an offering.  I had to write my name on a piece of paper and those I wanted to pray for, well I interpreted that way - so it was my dear Dad, Megan, Ann my dear sweet friend whose anniversary of her death is today, Chris for telling me all about it and Wills for you Margaret.  I also dedicated my meditation to him :)

My offering was blessed by a monk, thre water everywhere lol.  Then I lit the candle, incense sticks - it was so emotional.  I said my prayers to Buddha , the monk took my written sheet, I got something in a red envelope to keep, I will look at that later and a picture.  Then the paper was burnt.  I guess it is all symbolic, but the two women looked after me from start to finish.  I thanked them in Thai lol they just beemed - it really is the land of smiles.  I then went to look at Buddhas and was blessed by a monk again drenching me in water then bashing me over the head with some reeds lol.  He tied a cotton bracelet on my wrist - amazing!

So went to get more water, I have probably drunk 5 litres of water today lol.  Back on the ferry and off to Wat Po.  Have you guessed now lol Wat is temple.  Wat Po and I was warned by a guy called Callum who is a Buddhist and married to a Thai woman, that Wat Po is special - he was not wrong.  Firstly I looked around all the outer temples which held the most amazing gold statues of Buddha.  Then I went to the Thai massage school which is situated at the temple.  I decided to have a 30 mins foot massage and a 30 min Thai massage.  Total cost £10 and trust me that is cheap for anyone to get near my feet lol.  So feet first.  OMG I thought she was going to break every bone in my foot.  This petite Thai woman was so strong.  She massaged I foot cream and rubbed, pinched, rolled and hit my feet with a stick.  Oh I forgot to say I had to put on some baggy trousers as I was wearing a skirt - that was an experience.  Anyways, back to feet lol.  The stick was under toes, I between toes, top of toes then oh it's all coming back she went for my calves.  I thought I was going to leap out of the chair.  She obviously found a tense bit, I know she bloody well did it hurt, but that was it lol the knuckles were in it, pounding, rubbing my calf lol I could have cried lol. All I kept thinking was shit I have to have it all again with my other leg lol.  Then I saw what they were doing to the people they were massaging, it looked like wrestling.  Lol but it was too late to change my mind.  I must admit though my feet felt so relaxed at the end of it.  I thought I better have a wee before she kneed all over me - yes did read that right lol.

She started off on one side and back to my bloody calf lol, if once wasn't enough for her.  Now let's face it, it's true to say there is a fair bit of me, I like to call it cushioning lol - she found my bones!!!!!  Lol I have never been so glad to be p, how shall we say, padded ;)  then rolled on my stomach and she needed me up and down the backs of my thighs and bum!!!!!!! Put it this way every time she found some tension in my back or hios she was like a dog with a bone!  Lee you do not want a Thai wife lol you will cry - trust me on that.  Stuey lol I have found some new ways of rendering people so they cannot move lol just with my hands lol lol!  Mmmmm I not going any further with that one, you know who you are ;)

So after that 'experience' lol I went to have my fortune told - Thai style.  The guy was great, an elderly gentlemen but such character.  He was great.  Now dear friends I know you are going to find this difficult to believe but he said I was wise, very clever, strong, brave (his words not mine lol) oh and stubborn - me, never lol lol.  He said it all went wrong, love wise for me at 19 and hasn't been right since lol.  He said that I am a good communicator and intelligent and that by the time I'm 54 - I did tell him I'm only 29 lol, he laughed.  By the time I'm 54 I will be head over heels in love and this time, it will last.  But he will be foreign and this is the second time I have been told this oh and younger, which doesn't surprise me.  My health is good and will remain so.  Eventually I am in the right work and will be promoted, I will travel, I will spend more than I earn - that's true.  I am loyal and kind to my friends and would do anything to help them, but once crossed that's your lot lol lol - me as if. I'm not to waste my time in anyone who is in a relationship either married or has a girlfriend because this wonderful, young, foreigner is about to turn up any minute.  Lucky colour is red, number 1.  Mmmmmm we shall see lol.

So then to see the reclining Buddha - wow!  Amazing! It was beautiful, absolutely beautiful.  I then come out of that temple and could hear something and it was the same music playing as I reiki and meditate too.  Yes Jenny, lol the stuff you think is shit lol.  Well that was it, I just cried,  I know soft but it was so special for me to hear that music where I was, it was just so moving.  Then to random Asian woman wanted their photo taken with me lol FFS I don't know lol. Then I was off.  Come out of the temple went the wrong way and found the back door to the Royal Palace lol I know my place.  I had to walk all the way round and it has been so hot.  That is with taxi drivers and tuk tuk drivers shouting at it lol.  Get to main entrance and I can't go in as my arms are bare, it is 90 plus doh and shawl to cover them is ok for Buddha but not the King.  You can borrow clothes but I thought I will come back.

Found my way to the ferry again and took myself on a boat ride.  What is it with me.  The majority of people go on a ferry; not me a barge turns up.  How I got in that boat I don't know lol.  It reminds me of when I had Megan lol the day after.  I had a bath but all the while I was in there all I could think about was how the hell am I going to get out lol.  Anyways along the river and canals we go.  I say we, it was just me on the damn thing lol.  But do you know, everyone on the side of the canal were waving and smiling at me lol, they really are the most sweetest people you could wish to met - yes Chris I get it!  It's not about money, fast cars, big houses, these people are very poor live in houses that make my shed here look like a mansion, yet they are happy.  It says it all that us in the west fail to find.  We go chasing this, chasing that, must have this but there is always something else to chase.  Instead of just looking inwards of what we do have - so simple yet we complicate it!

Went to the floating market and was dropped off there for a while.  People were buying little turtles and eels.  Oh I say, how sweet.  Until it is explained it me that they are then feed to to fish in the river, who are just waiting, for luck.  It's not bloody lucky if you are the little turtle is it.  So she gets a turtle out offers it to me, how can I sacrifice it to the fish, me lol.  I said no thank you, but it'd lucky she says.......... You're alright ta, I will chance my luck lol.

Had he most amazing omelette lol don't know what was in it apart from bean sprouts but no meat that was made clear.  It was delicious and cost 80p with salad lol.  Oh yes remember the price of the ferry? Well the boat trip for two hours mind lol cost 1000 bhats that's £20 but it was fun lol.  I had the barge to myself and my own personal captain lol lol.

So I'm back opposite the guest house at what is now my coffee stop lol.  The dog in the pictures has just come for a fuss and Somewhere Over The Rainbow is playing on the radio and I'm counting my blessings!  I am truly blessed - I get it!  Life is simple, don't complicate it, don't wish for rainbows and bows, count your blessings.  All we need is food, water, shelter and ourselves - the rest just happens but is not important, things come and go. But unless you, yourselves are truly, truly happy and are not seeking something that you are always chasing, then my friend him will never get it.  But today I have made offerings for you, prayed for you, meditated for you, ate for you lol, was tortured for you lol lol so you will have some good karma.

OK 6:10pm here 10:10am with you, except you Emma in Toronto lol where it's 6:10am (thank goodness for my iPhone lol)!  Oh talking of which I have seen so many Buddhist monks today lol on their iPhones probably playing Candy Crush or on Grindr lol or listening to their iPod lol - isn't life just a journey lol - catch you later xx
