Good morning friends
So let me tell you a little bit more about this beautiful island. It took me a long whike to decide where I wanted to go and trust me I read many books and articles. I didn't want a party island lol I mean I am 29 now lol, nor did I want a place where everyone is loved up either, nor did I want it full if families. Blimey, I sound like a right diva lol. But I hope you get what I mean. So I found Ko Mak. It's 16 mikes wide and there are about 16-20 places to stay varying from private residences and islands to little bungalows on the beach (where the three guys from Sydney were staying). It is a low carbon island, they try to recycle everything, food is locally sourced. My kind of place. Transport is bike, far far too hot, walking, it would take too long and you would miss out on so much, taxi the pick up truck or scooter. Yesterday Betsy Mae and I travelled 20 miles! To give you sine idea if I leave my room I have to go down a really rough and I mean rough, dirt track then on a kind of half decent road. To get to the 'town centre' lol takes about 10-15 minutes. I would not want to walk that every day in this heat - hence Betsy Mae lol.
When I was looking for accommodation I did have a dilemma as I wanted something more than an hostel but definitely not a five star palace. The Bamboo Hideway is beautiful, I cannot fault it. There are only eight bungalows so it is never going to busy and Max and Francesca are just great, they spend time talking to you about your day, you are made to feel at home. But I guess my holiday preference has changed lol just has my life has. I think, in hindsight, a small hostel/basic bungalow on the beach would have been enough. But that aside, I am just fine here.
I'm also wondering about my packing lol. Last year when I went to Hong Kong and Australia, dear Emma come to help me pack - and I had never travelled so light. This year, I took even fewer clothes and haven't worn half of them. There is no need to 'dress up' for dinner, you just go to dinner. Also, in Bangkok I could get my washing done and I have found a place here too. So today, first stop is laundry. So I'm no thinking if I should get myself a backpack as it's apparent that I don't have 'holidays' now but I travel. Trust me, there is a difference. I'm already planning in my head my next adventure, I have a couple of itineraries in mind, lol lol I can see some of your horrified faces now lol. Life is a lesson, it teaches us things, wether we want to learn or not. I try not to look back now, but just live in the moment, but I remember all the time I spent in my little room at my old 'home and life' worrying, crying but always dreaming, always. When I was at the beach yesterday you all should have seen me lol I had my iPod on, listening to Elbow live, walking and at times swinging my arms around as I went round and round in circles, I so wanted to dance but I had the biggest, biggest smile on my face. So today's song is from Elbow (slightly changed to fit me, apologises Guy lol I'm sure you don't mind lol) and hey Nikki the clock is ticking lol looks like you are my date for April lol. For those of you who do not know, I'm going to see Elbow in Liverpool in April. I purchased two tickets, just in case I had a hot date lol lol by then. But I guess my hot date will be just with the lovely Guy Garvey and my dear, dear friend Nikki. But that is just fine, perfect. So here we go, check out the song on you tube and imagine me dancing on the beach with a huge, huge smile.
Be happy my friends and go grab your Tuesday with both hands.
As always, much love xxx
Am I having the time of my life?
Am I having the time of my life?
Am I coming across clear?
Am I coming across fine?
Am I part of the plan here?
Am I having the time of my life?
Am I coming across clear?
Am I coming across fine?
Am I having the time of my life?
Am I part of the plan here?
I had the drive and time on my hands
One little room and the biggest of plans
The days were shaping up, frosty and bright
Perfect weather to fly, perfect weather to fly
Pounding the streets where my father's feet still
Ring from the walls, we'd sing in the doorways or bicker and row
Just figuring how I was wired inside
Perfect weather to fly
So in looking to stray from the line
I decided instead I should pull out the thread
That was stitching me into this tapestry vile
And why wouldn't you try? Perfect weather to fly
I have the drive and time on my hands
One little room and the biggest of plans
The days were shaping up, frosty and bright
Perfect weather to fly, perfect weather to fly
And why wouldn't you try? Perfect weather to fly
PS it's called Perfect Weather To Fly a beautiful song and very dear to my heart.
