Evening from Bangkok

I'm here!  The taxi drive from the airport was an experience OMG!  Talk about put your foot down and aim lol.  I stopped looking in front and looked out the windows for Bhuddist temples lol.  What do I see - four mosques and Wayne Rooney, well a huge photo of him alongside the highway.  I could have been anywhere.  Up one road, down another, through two tolls lol, madness.  Then down this dark little road to my little guest house.  I have no concept of the money and the taxi fare was 500 bhat, I gave him 600 bhat, that's good karma for me straight away.  I had no idea how much it was when I paid it lol but mow realise it's £11 lol.

So dinner time.  Most thai are vegetarians excellent.  So this is a big bottle if water a lychee fiz and stir fry vegetables and chilli with noodles and trust me, it's to die for.  It's hot, too hot for you Nikki, but so tasty.  So fresh I love it.  I will tell you the price later.  This little bar is just around the corner from the guest house.  It's on a busy road, but that's good as it gives me something to look at.  Oh my that food was delicious.  I add a whole chili,I didn't see it, blimey lips went numb lol but the fragrance if the food.  Andy you would love it.  That is also a real orchid in the drink too.  No alcohol being served tonight, dont know why but the lychee fiz was really refreshing.  So I asked the girl who served me how do you say thank you in Thai and it sounds like ' car poon ka' lol.  So I will settle the bill then go for a walk up this noisy road and see what else I can find lol.
You will never guess how much that meal cost me lol.  160 bahts = £2.98 lol and I'm stuffed.  Had a walk up the main road and found a temple, beautiful.  I didn't take any pictures because sometimes it is disrespectful to do so, but trust me when I say the reds, yellow and gold - beautiful.

Mopeds are the form of transport here and you see families, yes families on one moped.  The bloke has the one helmet, the three year old is either on the handlebars or squashed inbetween mum and dad, either awake or asleep it makes no odds.  There are zebra crossings here and I have mastered them.  You just step out and hope they stop lol.  They have so far.  So now in a little coffee house opposite my room having a delicious iced coffee, there is a windchime to the right of me gently swaying in the breeze and James Taylor singing you have a friend has just been on the radio, how apt. I have walking sandles on as ankles look like Bilbo Baggin's feet at the moment, they will go down, it's all the flying,  cropped trousers and a short sleeve top.  I'm sitting outside writing this. It's warm.  This huge iced coffee is 35 bahts =  64p.  Christine it's not Costa but it's just as good and a quarter of the price, and they do take outs.

There is breakfast with my £7 a room night and it is served from 7:30 until 10:00.  I want to be up early and out to Wat Arum - the temple of dawn then across the river to Wat Po, the temple of the reclining Bhudda.  I have promised so many people that I would go on 2 February and say prayers for them.  Also, it is the anniversary of the death of a dear, sweet woman I supported at Home Start, but she was my friend Ann.  She died on 2 February 2010 from breast cancer aged 38!  She was brave, not me, she left two little girls without their mum.  I normally buy a ballon each year and let it go in her memory but tomorrow I shall make an offering in her name at one of the temples.  But first I have to get to the top Wat Arum lol.  You Tube it, it's scary stuff.  Someone once told me that he didn't like heights but liked women's ass.  So waited for a gorgeous woman to go up and then followed her looking at her ass lol!  I will think of him tomorrow as I start to climb lol.  Maybe there will be a lovely man I can treat myself too lol.  Ann would have approve of that ;)

Well it's 10:20pm here so I will say goodnight now, I will finish my iced coffee, walk across the road to my room lol, which is absolutely spotless.  The older woman who is probably only my age (29) but looks 85 does the washing and I can have a kilo of washing done for 50 bahts = £1 so I will be using that facility.  Also, they can book trips for me too.  Linda and Ann you are going to love this lol - there is no safe I asked and was told ...... No it's ok leave stuff In your room no one comes, we have 24 hour CCTV and always someone here lol, don't you just love it lol.  So simple.  So why do we make life so complicated?

So good night, I hope you like my ramblings.  It is fun writing it and I feel as if you are all with me enjoying the madness.  Sleep well my friends xx
