Sunday 9 February 2014 - Ko Mak

I forgot yo tell you, yesterday I witnessed a murder.  I was coming out of the very small mini market when I cat run over my legs bad caught a gecko!  The gecko wiggled, obviously, but the cat was having none of it!  I went over to the cat telling it to let go, totally pointless in English.  After I tried to pick said cat up it let it's grip off the gecko who sat there obviously terrified.  It eventually  run off over my toes, followed in hot persuit by said cat, again over my toes, and caught the gecko again!  I went after the cat again who must of thought 'bog off it's mine' and run indoors with it.  I guess it's the Thai version of a mouse.

I have has a great day today.  Sundays in cosy cottage, can at times, be a bit boring. Highlight of the day is normally yoga - when I get to see people.  But my last two Sundays have been great.

I left the hotel this morning on Betsy Mae in flip flops!  It's easier lol.  First stop to buy fruit to give as a donation.  I chose a bag of small orange like fruit, a papaya - which is my favourite.  Heads up Stokies his a mission for you, where can I buy green papaya in Stoke lol lol. I will leave that one with you.  It has to be green and the winner wins a spicy papaya salad prepared by yours truly.  OK back to purchases and some red apple things.  I say that as they sort of look like a red delicious, sort of taste like them but it's not them.  They have no core, so you can eat the lot, and very tasty they are too.  So bag hooked on Betsy Mae lol and off to Buddhist Temple.

The elderly monk was there, the same monk as yesterday, he waved hello I waved back and showered him the fruit.  He beemed, it was so special.  He invited me in and placed a red cloth I sat on the floor and I put the fruit on the cloth then he started chanting it was amazing.  Then he tied three knots in a piece of string and handed to me, I tied it on my wrist.  Then lol he was in the bag of small oranges, smiling and laughing.  I asked him if he like those lol he said he would have it tomorrow.  He asked me where I was from and if I was happy!  A Buddhist monk asking me if I'm happy.  I beemed, yes I'm happy, very happy.  I left him munching on the fruit and went to say my prayers and then saw the smallest puppies ever.  They come out of a shack, they were covered in fleas lol, but I made a fuss of them.  I wonder if I can take them some food? Anyway will do that again every morning.

Then Betsy Mae and I were off.  Francesca had told me about the beaches in her lovely sing along Italian.  The first beach was down a really steep dirt track.  Francesca told me afters that there are two roads of course there are two roads and guess which one I took - the dirt path.  Anyway that was it. So beautiful.  I have drunk a lot of fruit shakes here.  Just fruit of choice a little water and ice.  So had a pineapple shake and went on the empty beach.  Not a soul.  So I did something today that, for me, is brave.  I swam in the sea.  Some of you will remember the little story of the Great Barrier Reef last year and my fear of the sea or more like what lurks in it.  But I was off, someone said swim in the sea, you know who you are, so I did and I swam and swam and swam.  I loved it.  The water was so clear and you could see little fishes just swimming by.  Then I found a branch of a tree and sat and meditated in the sunshine with toes in the sand. A very special moment.

I then went and found two other beaches.  I can't tell you how beautiful it is here.  No loud music, no jet skis, no banana boats, hardly any roads lol, there is a wonderful feel to it.  The smell of the jasmine and honeysuckle will stay with me forever and everywhere you hear the gentle sounds of wind charms moving in the breeze.

Lunch was of course papaya salad, so delicious and healthy!

So I eventually made my way back to the hotel and did what I normally do around 4:30-5:00 swim 50 lengths of the pool.  It's only a tiny pool so I guess it's 20 lengths but I enjoy it.  Then I normally sit, listening to some music writing my blog.

I decided tonight to stay in as I have a busy day tomorrow planned.  I now have a gecko in my room.  There was something else I saw out of the corner of my eye flying around, goodness knows what that is anyway the gecko, I have called it Lee after chorizo chops lol.  It's called Lee because like I said to him, it's the only time he will be running around my bedroom!

So dinner.  I had Pad Thai - I can cook this too and it was very nice.

Then at the table next too me were three lovely guys from Sydney!  Now as you know I'm terrible with names but I think it was David, Brendan and mmmmm Sweetheart.  We had a great chat about travelling, Australia.  The boys had been snorkelling today and David had stood on an urchin! His foot was terrible, that is so painful. I did have to remind him that he's Australian so pain should be nothing lol.  They were telling me of their travels and Cambodia come up again.  They said I really should go as it's still developing and many of the roads are being paid by different countries - how cool is that.  They have also been to Vietnam and said that they had really liked it there too.  They are staying at an amazing place on the island they showed me pictures.  I explained to them that it is lovely here but it's two geared up for couples etc.  They said where they are staying there are plenty of "like minded" people, so guys I will be coming to check it out.  They were also telling me that the Buddhist Monk is quite well known in Buddhist circles.  So we had a lovely chat and they wanted to read my blog, I really am getting a fan club from around the world lol, so I gave them this one and the Australian trip too. Oh and they were telling me about a guy on the Khaosan Road who does forgeries that are really good!  I said to the guys I'm going to get myself a birth certificate that says I'm 29 ;)

So here I am typing this up What's Apping, emailing, listening to music - isn't technology wonderful.

I shall leave you now with one last picture.  The staff at the hotel live at the back of the hotel where I park Betsy Mae.  I saw this family this afternoon, the dad is the waiter here. I thought it was a baby girl as the baby was wearing a dress, but here clothes are clothes and it was  very apparent when mum lifted baby up that he was a boy!  Sums it up a treat as the only knob I have seen this holiday was in a dress - nothing changes there then lol!  As always, my love xx
